<font face="arial" ,?helvetica? size="5">Protecting Screen Savers.

<font face="arial" ,?helvetica?> Youre ready for a fresh cup of coffee, but you dont want to leave the document youve been working on unguarded while youre away for a few minutes. Thats where screen saver passwords come in handy. When this feature is enabled, you can walk away from the computer and once the screen saver appears, a password is needed to get back to the desktop.

To enable this feature, right-click the Desktop and select Properties from the menu that appears. You also can go into the Control Panel and click Display. In the Display Properties window, click the Screen Saver tab. You will see a checkbox that lets you Password Protect the screen saver; however, you must have a screen saver selected to enable the password feature. Check the box and click Change.

In the dialog box that appears, enter your new password twice and hit OK. Click Apply before closing the Display Properties window. You can use the same instructions for changing your screen saver password down the road.

A password protected screen saver does not provide serious security, but it may be enough to deter the curious while youre away from your desk.
